“My Degeneration”, primo album per i The Hoo di Berlino

“My degeneration“. Il 30 Marzo 2013 esce ufficialmente la demo d’esordio dei The Hoo, band italo/francese (o forse sarebbe meglio dire sardo/francese) residente a Berlino. La band suonerà dal vivo i pezzi del nuovissimo lavoro nel grande club Badehaus. Non mancheranno gli ospiti, ancora segreti.

“My Degeneration”, primo album per i The Hoo di BerlinoIl release party è stato anticipato dall’uscita in digitale su Band Camp, dove è possibile acquistare il disco ed ascoltare le canzoni e da un teaser video del singolo I Like It Rough, già disponibile e scaricabile gratuitamente da youtube e bandcamp.

La band ha un impatto live decisamente compatto e travolgente, ed è composta da un nucleo fisso, composto da Tristano Pala (voce, flauto e testi), Anthony Malka (tastiera ed effetti) ed Emanuele Carboni (basso e voce), attorno a cui ruotano in modo più o meno stabile Andrea Puddu (chitarra) ed Alexander Sitnikov (batteria).

Il gruppo propone electro-funk ad ampio raggio, con forti influenze hip-hop, jazz e rock. 9 le tracce presenti in questo nuovo lavoro.

Il disco è stato registrato al Lovelite Studio di Berlino dall’ottimo Jochen Ströh, mentre le grafiche sono state affidate alla giovanissima grafica Berlinese Be.Truu.

Il gruppo nasce nel Settembre 2011 a Berlino, dall’incontro tra Anthony Malka (tastierista francese) e l’ex formazione sarda dei Fun Key, di cui Tristano Pala, Uele Carboni ed Andrea Puddu facevano parte.

“My Degeneration”, primo album per i The Hoo di BerlinoSi è subito fatto prepotentemente largo nella ricchissima scena berlinese suonando nei maggiori club della capitale (Bar Tausend, Nhow, Lido, Kaffee Burger, Chester’s Music Inn, CCCP Bar, Szimp la Badehaus e Junction Bar) e riscaldando le jam dell’Acud Live Session come resident-band per quasi sette mesi.

Ha inoltre collaborato con numerosi artisti rap della scena, vinto un contest per band emergenti (In Your Face#3), e recentemente, si è qualificata per le selezioni nazionali del contest Emergenza, nel prestigioso Lido.

Ha inoltre al suo attivo un tour in Italia (in Estate il tour tedesco ed europeo), varie recensioni su riviste e web-site italiani, francesi e tedeschi e passaggi radio.

Il suono della band è decisamente compatto, in bilico fra sonorità electro-funk moderne ed il crossover potente dei Red Hot Chili Peppers, passando per il classico soul della Motown e l’hip hop jazz in puro stile newyorkese ma anche caratterizzato da hook e melodie accattivanti e di sicura presa sull’ascoltatore.

“My Degeneration”, primo album per i The Hoo di BerlinoI testi alternano fra l’inglese e l’italiano, confermando questa vocazione cosmopolita della band.

Apre le danze la groovosissima I Like It Rough, pezzo decisamente dance e singolo dell’album, è poi la volta di Attitude e Palazzine, dal gusto vagamente crossover, un pezzo “alla Prince” (Pink Flamingos), una manciata di tracce hip hop e tre strumentali in bilico tra funk, d’n’b e acid-jazz.
